Realty Executives Mid Island Realtor, Alexandra (Sandy) Smith, participated in the 5km walk on February 25, 2017.
Across Canada there were 18,000 walkers throughout 113 cities that raised $4,150,238. In Nanaimo, 29 teams participated, with a total of 193 walkers and raised $34,589.59. In Nanaimo, the money raised went to Island Crisis Care Society, which has been serving Nanaimo for 27 years. Alexandra’s team was Christ Community Church, which had a team of 9 walkers and raised $2,235.
The Coldest Night of the Year is a fun, family friendly fundraiser that raises money for hungry, homeless, and hurting individuals and families across Canada. Participants have the option to walk 2, 5, or 10 kilometres.
